Seventy Emirati students are now participating in Abu Dhabi’s three week summer youth tourism programme, which began yesterday. The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority has partnered with the Armed Forces Officers Club to offer the program which will develop the student’s understanding of the hospitality industry, and leadership and teamwork skills. Students will receive hands on practical instruction in hospitality operations and learn more about Abu Dhabi’s attributes as a tourist destination.
The programme has proven popular and only one third of those applying were enrolled. ADTA will closely review the program outcome in order to accommodate future demand for the course. A senior ADTA official said “We have encountered huge enthusiasm among the students which we hope to be able to harness and channel into future careers within Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry across all functions and levels.”
