Abu Dhabi Airport Targets 8 Percent Growth In 2010

Abu Dhabi International Airport expects to continue the healthy growth figures achieved in 2009, and hopes to achieve 8 percent growth in passenger traffic in 2010.  Ahmed Mohammed Al Haddabi, an executive with Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC) said the airport was one of the few in the world to record positive growth in 2009.  He said “Only the airports in the Middle East were able to achieve growth in the last year, and we are part of the Middle East trend.”

Al Haddabi, who is Vice President – Airport Operations, said ADAC expects passenger traffic will reach 10 million this year.  Abu Dhabi International Airport recorded an 8.1 percent year-on-year increase in passenger traffic for the first six months of 2009, compared to the same period in 2008. Details of the airports performance during the second half of 2009 will be released later this week.  Al Haddabi said four or five new airlines will probably begin operating from Abu Dhabi this year.  Currently there are 45 international airlines operating from the airport to 80 destinations around the world.
