Gulf Air online tickets sales were up 160% between January and July of 2009, with 140% more 140% more bookings in July than in January. They launched their online booking website www.gulfair.com in January 2008. Bahrain’s national carrier attributes the increase in online sales to its ease and convenience and expect the growth trend to continue. Gulf Air Director of Distribution and E-Commerce said “The growing popularity and success of gulfair.com shows that our strategy to attract more customers to book online is paying off”
Lars Denlew said Gulf Air’s promotion “Our Best Fare Guaranteed” promises their customers that fares purchased on their website can’t be beaten at any other website. This program and others have contributed to the increase in online ticket sales. He said “We have also introduced a wide choice of hotels and car hire across the airlines’ network, which customers can book and get instant confirmation.”
