Taxis in Dubai are relatively cheap if you are traveling short distances but can prove fairly expensive for long distance travel. They are however easily available and can be flagged down easily on the road. If you are visiting a mall you can take a cab by awaiting your turn in the taxi queue, which at times can be serpentine. Make sure you take a receipt from the cab driver when you make the payment. This will really come in handy if you happen to leave something behind in the cab and want to track it down. Taxi drivers are not supposed to refuse to take you to your destination. If they do, please feel free to complain to the RTA Taxi Dept at 800 9090 toll free number in the UAE, or 04 2080888.
