By Public Taxi
Taxis are the best way to get into town from the airport and they are readily available just outside the arrivals lounge. All taxis are metered and from the airport, the starting rate is Dhs 20 as opposed to the city starting rate which is Dhs 3. Make sure you take a recepit for your fare as this will come handy if you happen to leave behind a piece of luggage in the cab!
By Bus
There are a few public buses available from the airport and their service is very cheap. Bus routes 401 and 402 go to Al Sabhka (in the heart of Deira) and Al Ghubaiba (Bur Dubai) bus terminals respectively. Route 33 goes to Al Rashidiya. There are also big air-conditioned buses that have luggage areas which head towards Dubai’s key locations, such as trade centers, hotels and furnished apartments.
Hotel pick-up
Most hotels also have a pick up and drop off service and you should opt for this at the time of reservation if you wish to avail this facility.
Metro
The Dubai Metro, planned to open in September 2009, will have stations at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
Rent-a-Car
If you intend driving yourself around the city then there are many options for you to choose from. The 24-hour desk at the airport arrivals lounge has offices of all the major car rental companies.
